The muslim community in Jos is mourning the death of Sheikh Lawal Adam Abubakar, the esteemed Chief Imam, who passed away last Thursday. His passing marks the loss of a revered spiritual leader known for his dedication to fostering peace and unity among diverse religious groups in the region. In a gesture of solidarity and respect, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik, accompanied by Honorable Daniel Naanlong, the representative for Mikang in the Plateau State House of Assembly, visited the family of the late Imam to offer their heartfelt condolences. The visit underscored the deep respect and admiration held for Sheikh Abubakar by leaders across the religious and political spectrum.

During the visit, Chief Ropshik emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged attendees to reject religious division. His call for unity resonated strongly with the mourners, reflecting Sheikh Abubakar’s lifelong commitment to harmony and understanding. In addition to his words of comfort, Chief Ropshik extended financial support to the grieving family, donating 2 million naira to help them during this difficult time. He also pledged to assist in securing employment for four of the Imam’s children, offering a glimmer of hope and stability to the family as they navigate their loss.

“Baba was a beacon of peace and unity in our community,” Chief Ropshik remarked. “It is our collective duty to honor his legacy by continuing to promote the values he championed. Some of you were born here and that makes you indigenes of Plateau State and this is your home as well. We should not let people divide us along religious line. We are all brothers and sisters”

The passing of Sheikh Abubakar has left a profound void in the hearts of many, but the support and unity shown by leaders like Chief Ropshik and Hon. Naanlong provide a powerful reminder of the strength that lies in community solidarity. As Plateau State mourns, the legacy of Sheikh Abubakar’s advocacy for peace and interfaith dialogue remains a guiding light for all.
