[Jos, Nigeria] In a poignant display of empathy and leadership, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik, a distinguished Philanthrophist in Plateau State, embarked on a heartfelt journey to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and affected communities. This compassionate effort aimed to sympathize with the victims of recent adversities and distribute essential relief materials to alleviate their suffering. The TIC Chairman of Bokkos LGA, Hon. Monday Kassa as well as the traditonaler ruler – Saf Ronkulere – HRH Sir Lawrence were part of the dignitaries present at the event. Adding a digital dimension to this noble cause, online influencer Very Dark Man was part of the entourage, using his platform to shed light on the pressing issues faced by the community.
Chief Ropshik, clad in an all black outfit in a symbol of solidarity with his people, led a convoy of vehicles loaded with relief supplies through the dusty roads of Bokkos. The entourage navigated challenging terrains, emphasizing the significance of reaching even the most remote corners affected by the crisis.
Upon reaching the IDP camps, Chief Ropshik engaged with the displaced families, listening intently to their stories of loss and resilience. The chief’s deep connection with the community became apparent as he shared heartfelt moments, embracing the survivors and assuring them that they were not alone in their struggles and also bringing the attention of the government in his speech
“If we want peace, we have to come together as the killers did not ask if it was APC, PDP or Labour Party when they killed our brothers and sisters. The Federal Government, State security and celebrities with large following have disappointed the people of Plateau”
He admonished the state government to take a page from other states that have implemented stringent measures to tackle insecurity
“I am calling on Plateau state government to emulate what has been done in other states like Zamfara, Katsina and Amotekun from states in the south that have trained their people and given them arms to be able to protect themselves and this has put a stop to attacks in these places. Why is North Korea feared around the world? because they know they have nuclear capability and this serves as a deterrence. If these people know Bokkos people are armed, they will never come here”
The distribution of relief materials became a symbolic gesture of solidarity. Chief Ropshik personally handed out blankets, food items, and hygiene supplies, accompanied by words of encouragement that resonated with a promise of hope. The beneficiaries, grateful for the assistance, expressed their appreciation for the chief’s unwavering support during these trying times.
Very Dark Man, with his signature online presence, documented the visit. Through live updates, videos, and personal reflections, he brought the raw emotions of the affected communities to the forefront of the digital landscape. His involvement not only amplified the outreach efforts but also provided a global audience with a firsthand account of the challenges faced by the people in Bokkos.
Very Dark Man utilized his online platform to capture the essence of the mission and the stories of those directly affected. The online influencer’s engagement sparked an outpouring of support from a diverse range of followers, turning the mission into a collective effort to address the immediate needs of the community and foster long-term solutions. However, there were some unscrupulous comments suggesting that these atrocities were not carried out in Bokkos and the Kefiano Global Foundation’s on-the-ground visit disputes this notion.
Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik’s journey and Very Dark Man’s online advocacy have ignited a call to action, both locally and globally. NGOs, philanthropists, and concerned citizens are now rallying behind the cause, recognizing the urgency to address the multifaceted challenges faced by the resilient community of Bokkos.
In the heart of adversity, Chief Ropshik has become beacons of hope, demonstrating the power of compassion, collaboration, and the ability of individuals—both offline and online—to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. As his efforts continue to ripple through Bokkos and beyond, a renewed sense of solidarity emerges, proving that even in the darkest times, there is always a glimmer of light.
